Class Act Books Submission Guidelines
Class Act Books publishes romantic fiction only at this time. That means that romance must play a pivotal part in the story. Check our Genre Description Page before submitting your manuscript. Please list all genres that you book fits into--most books fit more than one genre. Example: your story might be set in modern times (contemporary) and be about someone going ahead in time (time travel) and trying to solve a murder (murder/suspense) so list the genre as: Romance, Contemporary, Time Travel, Murder/Suspense..
Please do your best to adhere to the follow submission guidelines so we can accept your manuscript and see your book published. Books that do not meet the minimum requirements below with be rejected without being read.
No simultaneous submissions; do not submit a manuscript to Class Act Books and any other publisher at the same time.
No manuscript in any genre less than 20,000 words or over 120,000 words.
Absolutely no rape scenes, child abuse, or cruelty to animals on stage in the story in any genre.
Use the name of your book as the file name.
Put the book title and genre in the subject line of email.
Include a cover letter with your submission that tells who you are, what else you have written (if anything) and a short synopsis of your book.
Manuscript Formatting:
A cover page is required with the information below:
Cover Page:
In the left upper corner, put the following:
* Author's name
* Author's full address
* Author's phone number
* Author's fax number
* Author's e-mail address
In the center of the page, put the following:
* Title of manuscript
* By-line
* Genre
* Word count
* Insert hard page break at bottom of page so the manuscript starts on the next page.
Manuscript preparation:
One inch margins all around.
No headers or footers.
No page numbers.
Use Times New Roman, size 12 (except for chapter headings) black font with single line spacing.
Format chapter headings and place on true left margin like this: Chapter 1, where size 14 Times New Roman bolded font is used.
Leave one blank line between the chapter heading and the start of manuscript.
As a scene break indicator, use ~ * ~ with no line before or after, and sitting on the true left margin.
Do not put blank lines between paragraphs.
Use .2 first line indentation on all paragraphs.
Do not underscore words.
Do not USE ALL CAPS.
Italics are reserved for inner the thoughts of characters. A small amount of italics may be used for emphasis of select words, but keep it to a minimum.
Use a hard page break at the end of the text on the last page of each chapter
